The vision for Discovery For Men (DFM) was conceived by Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, the
President of Discovery For Men and the Senior Pastor of The Fountain of
Life Church. From his days as a petroleum engineer with the Nigerian
National Petroleum Corporation, he always believed that the male gender
has a special role to perform in actualizing God's plan on earth. Much
has been said about liberating women. What we really need are men who
are liberated from the distorted image that men have given in today's
corrupt society.

It has been said that a nation is as strong as its men. To this
end, Discovery For Men is committed to building a virile nation, by
stirring men into their place of leadership as fore-ordained by God:
guiding, encouraging and reassuring them to triumph over the challenges
of life. Discovery is simply a ministry by men for men and its
membership cuts across different churches and cities.
How does Discovery minister to men?
Discovery for Men is all about providing a forum where men talk
about issues, real feeling and real life. It addresses the needs of men
by offering practical inspiration for the working man, the single man,
the husband and father. Discovery for Men provides spiritual wisdom and
insight which will enable men realize their full potential as men of
God. In these ways, Discovery enables men to live well and attain their
full potentials.

On 19 April 1997, the first meeting of Discovery for Men was
held with about one thousand men gathered from different churches and
all walks of life. There was a roar of baritone voices singing praises
to God, creating an atmosphere of joy, love, liberty, worship and
reverence so rich, it could literally be felt. The awesome presence of
God in the gathering was the crowning glory of the whole event. Since
then, Discovery has traversed different parts of Nigeria keeping a date
with men who seek not religion nor denomination, but practical help in
facing life's challenges.
Discovery outreaches have so far been held in Lagos, Calabar,
Enugu and Eket while there are plans to host outreaches in other major
cities of the country including Abuja.
Membership
Membership is open to all men who desire to have a closer walk
with the Lord Jesus Christ. Discovery does not discriminate on the basis
of tribe, denomination or status. Every member receives a monthly
newsletter by e-mail that contains biblical wisdom and strategies to
help you become the man God made you to be.
